The Council of the European Union has announced new sanctions targeting the Russian military-industrial complex in response to Russia’s escalating attacks against Ukraine (specifically citing the deadly strikes on Kyiv on July 1 and 5).
Five entities belonging to the ABS Electro group of companies, which produce critical components used in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) warfare. These companies reportedly develop technologies that enhance the resistance of Shahed and Geran type drones against electronic warfare, and they also manufacture automated control systems for Russia’s highly lucrative energy sector.
Irina Kharisova, who serves as the Chairman of the Board for the ABS Electro group and directs several of its affiliated companies.
The assets of the listed individuals and entities within EU borders will be frozen, and providing funds or economic resources to them—either directly or indirectly—is strictly prohibited. Furthermore, an EU travel ban has been imposed on Irina Kharisova.
