Russia bans entry of 103 Canadians, including lawmakers

In response to a wave of new Canadian sanctions, Russia has implemented travel bans against 103 Canadian citizens.

The entry ban specifically hits members of Canada’s House of Commons, senators, parliamentary secretaries, and other government officials.

The Russian Foreign Ministry accused the Canadian political elite of destroying bilateral relations, attempting to undermine Russia’s constitutional order, and supporting the confiscation of Russian state assets.

The move directly follows an announcement by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney at the G7 Summit in France, where Canada rolled out 162 new sanctions targeting Russian individuals, entities, and vessels to pressure Russia into peace negotiations.
