The Kyrgyz Justice Ministry has suspended the legal registrations of 50 companies suspected of helping Russia bypass Western sanctions related to the war in Ukraine.
The suspensions were initiated after the United States and the United Kingdom flagged 51 suspicious entities. Additionally, the EU’s recent 20th sanctions package officially designated Kyrgyzstan a “country of concern” for sanctions circumvention.
Western regulators noted massive trade anomalies, such as an 800% spike in specialized electronics imported from the EU to Kyrgyzstan between 2022 and 2025. Officials believe Kyrgyzstan has become a transit corridor to supply Russia’s military-industrial base.
To curb this pipeline, the EU recently banned the export of specific dual-use goods to Kyrgyzstan, notably radio equipment and computer-controlled CNC machines (items heavily used in drone manufacturing).
By canceling the legal registrations of these 50 companies, Kyrgyzstan automatically revokes their banking access and ability to operate. The targeted businesses, which have not been publicly named, are reportedly involved in wholesale trade, transport, and logistics.
